How WorkRite’s e-learning courses cross language barriers

Whether you’re managing staff in one office or across several continents, training and health and safety are issues you can’t ignore. These can be especially tricky if you’re working internationally.

Each year, WorkRite – a division of Posturite – provides training, consultancy and online courses to hundreds of thousands of employees around the globe. The UK-based company develops creative solutions to save time and money and keep up to speed with changing legislation and training requirements.

For clients who need something a bit different, it offers bespoke courses as well as its off-the-shelf ones. A significant number of their clients are large multinational organisations, so getting the language right is clearly vital. After all, a health and safety course that you can’t understand is about as useful as a chocolate teapot!

Lingo24 started working with WorkRite in 2009, helping them adapt their software and e-learning courses for clients around the world. These include well-known names such as Panasonic, Beiersdorf, and Berkeley Group.

We translate into a wide range of languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, Welsh, and Japanese. Their translations ranged from short phrases to complicated system translation projects.

One of the challenges is getting the terminology and tone of voice right, and ensuring that all the information was presented clearly no matter the language. Because of the variety of materials they translate, we assembled teams of linguists with experience in Business and Finance, Marketing, and Education and Training, selecting the ones best suited for each project.

Another challenge WorkRite faced was ensuring that Arabic language versions of their software were formatted correctly. We suggested a solution where our translators log directly into their system to check and edit the Arabic text, to ensure nothing is missing.

And since they often work with very tight deadlines, our project managers continually keep them updated on the progress of each project.

Our client said: “The personal service we have received from our dedicated account manager is second to none. We can always expect prompt responses, clear timescales, strong communication and flexibility to meet with deadlines.

“We have now worked with Lingo24 on a number of projects big and small. We are confident in the ability of their translators, the professionalism of the account support and the efficiency of the whole solution. We look forward to many successful projects in the future.”
