We wrote on this fair blog here some months back about a new iPhone translation application. Well, as good as this was, a new one has hit the shelves that may just blow the old one out the water.
The PicTranslator iPhone App. is the first free ‘photo translator’ application to hit the shelves, which turns the iPhone camera into a ‘point and shoot’ translator. You simply take a photo of a road sign, menu, map…any piece of text, and by pressing a button you can convert Czech, Dutch, French, German and sixteen languages in total into English.
The wonders of modern technology never cease to amaze. It’s unlikely to put professional translators out of a job any time soon, but it’s a nifty piece of software nonetheless. To see the application at work, check out the video below:
