Combining speed and accuracy in medical translations

Whether it’s an over-the-counter painkiller or a specialist cancer drug, getting the right medical translation is critical. There’s no substitute for specialist knowledge when it comes to working with one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.

Actavis, a leading global manufacturer of generic prescription drugs, operates in more than 60 countries. Headquartered in Dublin and New Jersey, the company focuses on developing, manufacturing and distributing more than 750 generic and brand products.

They were looking for a reliable translation partner to translate medical and legal documents between English and Scandinavian languages, who could deliver accurate content within tight deadlines. Of course, they didn’t have to look further than Lingo24!

This is one area where it’s vital to get every word right, and there’s no room for error.

From the start, we selected dedicated teams of translators with extensive experience in the medical, pharmaceutical and legal sectors, who met all our client’s specific criteria.

Working across all their projects, they’ve built up an in-depth knowledge of Actavis’s product range and style.

To make extra sure every translation is word perfect, they are all checked by a second linguist.

Actavis’s projects range from legal documents to e-learning programmes, with their products covering dentristy to dermatology. Since they often have very short deadlines, we’re committed to responding to any request within 30 minutes.

The company’s Actavis Specialty Brands business specialises in Women’s Health, Urology, Gastroenterology and Dermatology. Actavis also develops and out-licenses pharmaceutical products to customers in more than 100 countries through its Medis third-party business.

The key to our success has been our translators: they are happy to put in extra hours to deliver the required quality within tight deadlines, whether it’s polishing the description for a tube of toothpaste, or ensuring accurate information for a drug.

In the past year, we’ve translated almost 40,000 words for Actavis. Our client has been very satisfied with our work so far, and we look forward to continuing our healthy working relationship.

As they put it: “Even though the Nordic countries have many similarities, the differences between the languages are sometimes challenging. We often work with short deadlines where translations of marketing material, product specifications and presentations are often needed within the next couple of days.

“I am very satisfied with Lingo24. They give prompt feedback on any request I have and always deliver on time and with high quality.”
