The bells ring out, the fireworks explode, and we’re already pretty excited about 2013! We’re marking the new year by opening a brand new office in Manchester, with a team of world-class machine translation specialists and experienced sales staff.
But first we thought we’d take a look back at 2012, another very busy year for us…
The year got off to a good start, with Lingo24 signing our biggest ever contract with an American technology company. The complex project, involving translating into several European languages, could be worth up to $6 million.
In May, we continued to expand our European operations, with the opening of a new office in Nuremberg, Germany. This allows our German-speaking sales team to take even better care of our clients in the “DACH” countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and meet many more of them in person.
Another project has been launching websites in more new markets. We launched 36 new sites in 2012, including three language-specific ones for Switzerland, two each for Belgium and Canada! This helps us give a better, localised service for each country and language community.
One of our most exciting new developments has been the launch of Coach, our new computer-assisted translation technology. This helps improve the productivity of our professional linguists, making human translation smarter, faster, and more cost-effective.
We were delighted to be presented with the TAUS Excellence Award at their annual user conference in Seattle in October, one of the most prestigious awards in the translation industry. And we’ll be rolling out Coach for most projects from early this year.
Another big move is branching out into Machine Translation (MT) and Post-Edited Machine Translation (PEMT) services. We’re delighted to welcome Professor Andy Way, one of the world’s leading MT experts, who will be leading a team of specialists at our brand new Manchester office.
They’ll be spearheading the development of high quality MT and PEMT for clients, customised to fit their style and requirements. These can be much more accurate than web-based translation tools, and an economical solution for large volumes. They are joined by experienced Account Directors, who will advise clients on the best options for their business needs. They’re moving into their new office over the next couple of weeks… almost ready for the new year!
We’d like to wish you all the very best for a happy and successful 2013! And do get in touch to find out how we can help you with translation, technology and foreign language internet marketing this year.
